We, Rotarians, are like trees. We are connected through our root systems and provide people in our best capabilities. It gives us happiness when we help others. We are also having fun and enjoying every moment.
For the Rotary Club of Mabini Manila, we also want to prioritize the Area of Focus, Supporting the Environment. Thank you to our Life-Changing President Rick Balderama and our fellow Rotarian Tetchie Navarrette for hosting our Tree Planting project in Inday Tecla’s Farm in Alfonso, Cavite. It was an uplifting experience knowing that the seeds that we have planted will soon grow into trees that will not only provide shade and oxygen to the community but will also add to the beauty of nature.
Being able to help in protecting the environment is such a great accomplishment and doing this with fun and with support from your club is a great pleasure. After the tree planting, we gathered and ate lunch boodle style. A Boodle Style is a Filipino feast adapted from the military practice where fingers are the only utensil, and a mat of banana leaves is laid out with grilled fish, pork, seafood, vegetables, and rice. We enjoyed that lunch because the food was heartily prepared by our fellow Rotarians, we chatted and laughed as we ate. We ate inside a nipa hut and we ended it with some fresh buko beverage while relaxing in the fresh Tagaytay wind. In the afternoon, we also had fun picking ripe rambutan and bananas.
Our eyes were satisfied with the beauty of the farm and the fresh ambiance of mother nature. This activity not only brought us joy but also made us more closer like a family. We can do so much if we support each other and work together. We are the Rotary Club of Mabini Manila and we will serve and change lives.
