The Church and Christmas

If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday -Isaiah 58:10

When we feel most vulnerable, we always find courage and comfort by visiting the church closest to our hearts.

For almost two years, our weapons to survive the pandemic were prayer and faith. For us Filipinos who grew up deeply rooted to our religious upbringing, it was really saddening that we were even limited to visit churches. Do we still remember we even do the sign of the cross every time we pass by churches during our tender years? I still practice it to this day, though.

RC Pasay Cyber City wants to be one in spirit in desiring for everything to slowly go back to normal including church visits and spiritual gatherings especially this coming holiday season. Our club donated to San Isidro Church in Pasay City, Taft Avenue through Father Jayjay Bautista the following: 2 mist machines, 8 gallons of isopropyl alcohol, 6 gallons of disinfectant solution and sanitizer 2 boxes of face masks, and 100 pcs. N95 Face masks.

When we speak of November, there are plenty to be celebrated globally. We have just finished observing All Saints’ and All Souls’ days, but the one thing Filipino families look forward to every November: it is the month to do the countdown until Christmas. We cannot deny that we are getting ready now for our festive preparations for the holiday season.

In 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, kids would start to carol as early as the 2nd week of November. Our communities also start to do Christmas decorations by November. Now of course, holiday season for us will not be complete without our traditional Misa De Gallo. This is really the symbol of families coming together to hear mass before sunrise.

It would be RC Pasay Cyber City’s utmost hope for this year to relive the traditional Misa De Gallo so we will be embarking on this mission to support Churches by donating safety protocol kits, one church at a time.

Join us in this mission until we hear those church bells sing once
