As the Rotary Club of Manila Kalaw entered its 10th year of Rotary service in 2021, we pay tribute to the generous officers and members of the club who have given their time, talent, and treasure to the cause of The Rotary Foundation (TRF). Allocating our hard-earned funds to the TRF every year is crucial to the successful implementation of worthy projects. This must be aligned with the 7 Areas of Focus from Water and Sanitation to Maternal and Child Health, Disease Prevention, Peace and Conflict, Economic and Livelihood, Basic Education and Literacy, Environment Support and the Rotary Foundation’s worldwide flagship project of eradicating Polio.

TRF was created in 1917 by Rotary International’s sixth president, Arch C. Klumph. It has grown from an initial contribution of US $26.50 to more than US $1 billion. Arch Klumph’s idea for an endowment fund dedicated to “doing good in the world” planted the seed of The Rotary Foundation. Thanks to his vision and staunch advocacy, and the extraordinary generosity of Rotary members worldwide, that fund has become one of the world’s leading humanitarian foundations.

TRF assists individual Rotary Clubs or groups of Rotary Clubs with community projects that are beyond their means, achieve Rotary Goals, and comply with strict governance procedures. The Rotary Foundation also funds hundreds of other projects around the world, including Peace Fellowships.

Every donation regardless of size helps us to move forward and achieve our goals. As Saint Francis of Assisi said, “Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”

As a relatively young club, we the members and officers of the Rotary Club of Manila Kalaw has conscientiously participated in the TRF programs like the Annual Fund Giving through Paul Harris Fellows, Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY), Polio Plus Fund etc. For the past nine years, we have a total of 14 Paul Harris contributions and this year under the leadership of Life Changing President Judith Landicho, we are adding 3 Paul Harris Fellows led by Pres. Judith R. Landicho, PP Thess DG. Biñosa and CP Ann Margaret D. San Antonio. With our contributions to the TRF, we accomplished projects from the District Grants and hopefully continue to do so for another decade.
