Rotary Club of Dasmariñas Cavite (RCDC) has donated a printer and reams of bond papers to selected schools in Cavite and Quezon to help them prepare for the remote-based mode of education amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the education sector struggles to provide quality learning experience for the Filipino students, many teachers are now finding difficulty in adjusting to the demands of this shift from the traditional to the remote-based education. And one of the most common challenges encountered by many of these teachers is the lack of bond papers used for modules.

In the middle of limited budgets especially by smaller schools, the funding for essential materials like bond papers and printer becomes a gap in achieving the goal of addressing the teaching needs in schools. And RCDC has seen this gap as an opportunity to provide assistance to some selected schools.

Hence, on July 23, 2021, officers and members of RCDC along with their families headed to Dasmariñas, Cavite to handover a printer and eleven reams of bond paper Ramona S. Tirona Memorial School, in support of the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela Program, an annual nationwide initiative originally intended to maintain and refurbish school facilities but now repurposed to strengthen the schools’ capacity to provide students with self-learning modules.

Moreover, another donation drive was conducted on July 30, 2021 benefittting Catanauan Central School. Four boxes of bond paper and twenty school kits were distributed to the recipient school, spearheaded by some of RCDC’s members who devoted their time and effort in reaching these far flung area in Quezon Province. Similar to Ramona S. Tirona Memorial School, this donation drive was also aligned to the  Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela Program.

The donations were made possible through the the funding from the District Grant and aims to uphold Rotary’s advocacy towards Basic Education and Literacy, in assuring that the Filipino child receives the education that they need.

Projects like these are important to ensure that the future of the Filipino learners are uninterrupted, helping them to reach their full potential. And this only shows that no pandemic can stop us from achieving a robust education system if we only work together in achieving this common goal. RCDC believes that it is only through unity can we transform communities and this ardent desire for positive transformation shall continue to live on as its legacy. #
