A significant event happened on May 6, 2021. Incoming Club Presidents Lilibeth Du of the Rotary Club of Baywalk Manila and Brillian Pelayo of the Rotaract Club of Baywalk Manila successfully presented their proposed service projects and club development plan for Rotary Year 2021-2022 during the Club Planning held at Bert Regis Resort, Tagaytay City.

LCP Lilibeth Du became a member of the Rotary Club of Baywalk Manila during RY 2013-2014. As Life-Changing President, she emphasized that the Club’s goals this year are to achieve charter strength in membership and continue the Club’s signature projects.

The first Signature Project is the Physical Fitness Program. It promotes health and wellness through an active lifestyle. It also includes club fellowship and membership build-up. This is the third year that the Rotary Club of Baywalk Manila has engaged well-known national coach Saturnino Salazar to chair this project. Fondly called Coach Titus, he introduced Power Walking to the group every Saturday in the early hours at Baywalk, Manila.

The Club’s second Signature Project is Alay Kalikasan GREEN Project. It is a 3-in-1 community outreach program that builds shelter for the homeless, plants trees continually, and conducts a livelihood program for the indigenous farmers of the Aeta Community in Bacao, Palayan, Nueva Ecija, and for the Dumagat Community in Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan. This project is in cooperation with Kabalikat Radiocom Philippines, Merlion Base, and the Regis Foundation.

Aside from these, LCP Du also promoted other community projects for disease prevention, water, and sanitation, basic education and literacy, promoting peace & conflict prevention, and supporting The Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Club of Baywalk Manila has often collaborated with its sponsored Rotaract Club. The Rotaract Club of Baywalk Manila is a community-based club that was chartered on October 15, 2018. The Rotaractors have been actively doing service projects since they were organized by PP Elberto Regis when he chaired the New Generations Committee. Being the organizer of the Rotaract Club, PP Elberto leads the Club in giving Rotaractors his full, consistent, and reliable support. The Rotary-Rotaract collaboration is part of the Club’s plan to engage the youth and inspire them to serve. That is why this year’s Club Planning was a joint activity with our dear Rotaractors.

After laying out our strategic plans, the Life-Changing Team feels ready to serve. We will take the opportunity to do something good to help change the lives of the needy and to inspire them out of hopelessness.
