The state of the health system in our country has been evident for the last 18 months.  It has made the life harder for the less fortunate because of this Covid 19 pandemic.  Lockdown happened with businesses declared bankruptcy, malls closed, and work stopped which was a big challenge for all of us to overcome.  It was quite alarming that due to lockdowns, many Filipino people got sick, stuck up in their homes and moreover some were displaced.

It was when the Rotary Club of Tondo Metro together with the Rotaractors of Universidad de Manila-College of Engineering met and started to make true to this year’s Rotary theme “Serve to Change Lives” of people living around the streets.

In the early morning of July 17, we distributed 150 food packs by biking along the streets of Intramuros, Roxas Boulevard, and adjacent streets to share food with people living along the streets.  We were able to deliver food packs with biscuits, juice drinks, face shields, facemasks, sandwiches, coffee, creamer, energy drink, and milk to help their daily consumption.

The club’s project “Padyak para sa mga Batang Lansangan” encouraged us to find ways to help support people of their needs especially the street dwellers during these trying times.  Thank you to the members of RC Tondo Metro and the Rotaract Club of UDM-CET for the financial support and the service in delivering service and opening doors of hope and strength to the people we have served.
