The Physical Fitness Program of the Rotary Club Baywalk Manila was re-launched last July 10 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the program.
Considered smooth and successful, the relaunch began at 6am at the Liwasang Ulalim at the CCP Complex. The ceremonial walk with a torch culminated at the newly renovated Rotary Marker of RC Baywalk Manila along Roxas Boulevard across Rajah Sulayman Park. The Rotary Marker was unveiled during the Centennial Year of the Rotary Foundation, with the theme “Celebrating 100 Years of Doing Good to the World!”
Significantly, this year is the tenth year of Physical Fitness Program. And this year’s theme is “Rotarian’s Influence and its Role in Health and Well-Being,” which reminds everyone with the importance of health for all. Done every first Saturday of July during the change of leadership of RC Baywalk Manila.
As declared by the officers of RC Baywalk Manila, this year’s theme is, “We are committed to promoting wellness and a healthy and active lifestyle”. Being physically fit allows every Rotarian or any individual to be healthy. At the same time, a physically fit Rotarian can perform the usual day-to-day activities with energy left from office work and doing community service too.
“We need to be physically fit to enable us to do tasks efficiently and effectively even if we use the least amount of energy in finishing the activities. Physical Fitness does not only help a person to stay healthy, it also helps a person perform well in physical activities, and strengthen an individual’s cardiorespiratory endurance, strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, power, and body composition.”
The benefits of physical fitness should be able to convince a person to get physically fit as it is truly something that can better an individual’s life. Even if some may find it tiring or hard to fit into their schedule, everyone is encouraged to make an effort to start on their physical fitness journey. As the saying goes, “no pain, no gain.”
People should not be afraid to take the risk for doing something that will significantly improve their life in a matter of time. It helps control weight, strengthens the immune system, improves mental health and mood, boosts energy, promotes better sleep habits, and lengthens the lifespan. There are no restrictions and everyone can start at their own pace and not be pressured by the rest of the people who started their physical fitness journey earlier.
Special thanks to our athletes, Rotaractors and club members who have been active and supportive of this annual event.
The Physical Fitness Program of RC Baywalk Manila, funded from a District Grant, is held every Saturday.
