Hello, fellow Rotarians. I just wanted to introduce myself to you. I am Avegail I. Mendoza, Life Changing President of the Rotary Club of Trece Martires City. I have been a member of Rotary since April 2021. I am very thankful for my fellow Rotarians, who had faith in me, who believed that I had what it takes to lead our club this year. A big thanks also to our AG Patrick Camillon for the guidance, PP Flordeliza E. Gomez, PP Jennylee A. Garcia, and other Rotarians who introduced me to Rotary and warmly welcomed me to the Club. They helped make me feel very much at home in a very short amount of time. A big thanks also to my very supportive mentor, Mr. Reymond Ray T. Tan.

For those of you who don’t know me, I am a government employee of Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cavite as Local Legislative Staff Assistant III. I assist the Provincial Board Member draft ordinances, attend regular board sessions, and prepare committee reports and public hearings. I am also connected to Metro Trece Trading Corporation, owned by Mr. Reymond Ray T. Tan, with a business address at Purok 2, Barangay Conchu, Trece Martires City. We are engaged in the stockpile business and the selling/renting of heavy equipment.

I attended the two-day webinar of Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS) last April 9-10, 2021, via Zoom. I learned from this webinar that as President-Elect, I need to develop and evaluate my club’s strategic plan, set annual goals, create an action plan for each goal, attend training events, and inspire every club member to participate in club activities.

A good leader plays a vital role in a group. She can bring out the best abilities in her team members and motivate them to work together in achieving a shared goal. She is not just a leader but a good follower also. This person can help the team members unite even if they have differences. A good leader also helps build integrity.

Our Rotary family is composed of more than just Rotarians. We also have Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of Trece Martires. They launched a community pantry in partnership with Cavite Varsitarian, Tau Gamma Phi, and Alpha Kappa Rho last June 3, 2021, at Brgy. Osorio, Trese Martires City. The community pantry was able to help 200-300 senior citizens. We believe that it does not matter if we serve as a Rotarian or as a Rotaractor because the main goal is to serve the community.

This year, my personal goal is to further grow our Rotary family by starting an Interact Club at Conchu Elementary School, Barangay Conchu, Trece Martires City. We have been helping the school maintain its Gulayan sa Paaralan/Urban Garden Project. Starting an Interact Club there will expand the reach of Rotary and further foster the relationship with our school service partner.
