Providing selected rural communities of Occidental Mindoro with a steady supply of clean water is one of the projects of RC Lubang  Island under its water and sanitation program.

Majority of the population in the province remains to be poor and private water system facilities have yet to expand their services to far flung communities. An alternative source of clean and potable water is therefore necessary. In response, RC Lubang Island led by Life Changing President Myla Tarriela selects communities in the province where there is an overwhelming need of alternative source of clean and potable water and provide them with Jetmatic Pumps. These pumps are manually operated and the use human power to extract water from deep grounds are proven to be useful in providing clean water to the beneficiaries especially in the irrigation of their farms.

Another project of our club is hosting a Joint Webinar Forum with RC Diliman Central, RI District 3780, RC Diliman Heights, RID 3780 and our Sister Club RC Manila Quiapo Central, RID 3810 last September 2. The topic of the Economic and Community Development webinar is “Raise the ARCs – Road Map To Sustainable Rural Development” .  Our guest speaker was Atty. Emily O. Padilla, Undersecretary For Support Service Office Department of Agrarian Reform. She discussed  The Agrarian Reform Community (ARC), a development strategy that was adopted in 1993 as an integrated approach to development of communities. It complemented land distribution with interventions designed to improve the productivity of the land and the farmers. It is a holistic approach to help the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB). It was considered as DAR’s key operating mechanism to accelerate community development and sustain growth. The ARC strategy complemented the land distribution with interventions to help the farmer/beneficiaries increase their productivity.
