LCP Karen Kim Wu
The Rotary Club of Tondo Manila (RCTM), Rotaract of Tondo Manila, Rotary Clubs from Rotary International District 3810 and two clubs from Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Inc. District 383 donated 146 reams of A4 bond paper, 46 liters of blank ink, books, and printer at Tondo High School last September 9.
The RCTM headed by Life Changing President Karen Kim Wu went to Tondo High School to turn over the school supplies to Rodrigo Natividad, Tondo High School Principal and Maria Immaculada Padilla, Head Teacher of the English Department.
The school supplies were divided to more than 5,000 student beneficiaries to all the subject areas by Rotarian Lovelle Avelino, Youth Service Chair and Rotarian Janice Bron, Vocational Service Chair who are also teachers of Tondo High School.
This “Brigada Eskwela” Project is geared towards as one of the seven Rotary Areas of Focus which is Basic Education and Literacy.
This club project began when a concerned teacher messaged the Club President asking for the needed school materials. We immediately worked together to make it happen together with my Life Changing President Classmates . Due to this pandemic, our educators are struggling to the sudden change and students are not allowed to go out so they are not able to go to school to do their face-to-face classes. Instead, it evolved to modular online classes which require them to have their classes online where they needed the said school materials. This was made possible because of all the hard work and determination of everyone. This “Brigada Eskwela” will not be successful if it were not for the strong leadership in our District.
During the implementation of this project, Life Changing President Karen Wu was accompanied by World Class President Elizabeth Wu, Rotarians Lovelle Avelino, Janice Bron and Paulene Sarmiento, Life Changing President Rotaract Cris Meneses, Assistant Governor Joan Malitao, Life Changing Presidents Gab De Guzman, Rex Pajenado, Andy Alcantara, Ronnie Gonzales, Nicolas Lim, Girlie Espiritu, Amelyn Borbon, Ethel Darole, and Marci Supsup and from Inner Wheel, Anna Pablo who all received a warm welcome from the school representatives.
